Four Kings Crossing

"An early civilization pushed further into the mountains, secluding themselves and rejecting modernity. This would lay the foundation for future generations to sow discord."

Rendered in UE5

This environment was primarily made using SpeedTree, Megascans and Unreal Engine 5. I wanted to create this scene as a means to better understand landscape and vegetation workflows. Big thank you to Michael Gerard for his incredible lessons on foliage!

Using LGT's allowed me to paint on foliage and only apply it to certain layers on my landscape. I also excluded it from my path layer and could remove foliage to gain a more organic look.

The slope parameters allow me to control the blending between the ground and rock face textures, I can control the distance required to start the blend and how harsh the falloff is between the two.

Getting as much use out of my texture space was important when creating my foliage

I created separate atlases from the scanned textures in SpeedTree to allow for ease of use

Having very simplistic geometry properly placed can help foliage integrate well with others
